COAL MINE METHANE (CMM)

Coal Seam Gas Exploration & Production Services and associates provide coal mine methane (CMM) consultancy and fields services to coal industry.  

CBM gas management started with underground coal mining operations. Methane has been a major issue for a long time in coal mining; it is still number one issue in deep coal mines.Fugitive methane is the main source of greenhouse gas emissions in open-cut coal mines. When coal and associated strata are disturbed during production and broken as part of the mining process, the methane trapped in the coal seams and overburden escapes to the atmosphere. According to Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), companies will be required to purchase a pollution permit for each tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) that they release during their operations in compliance period. Our expertise in coal mine methane management is as follows:

• Geological and geophysical studies, collection of offset well and field data, review all existing data and their re-interpretation for CMM data analysis
• Review of geophysical data
• Review all geological, geochemical, surface and subsurface maps to understand the extent of coals and their structure in relation to CMM
