GAS CONTENT and DESORPTION TEST

Determination of gas content by desorption test is conducted according to AS 3980 standard. Gas content testing is a very important stage in an exploration program and needs high quality, reliable data to evaluate the resource potential of CSG in a prospect area. Coal Seam Gas Exploration & Production Services provide high quality gas desorption tests for:
  • Q1-Lost Gas
  • Q2-Measurable Gas
  • Q3-Residual Gas

All measurements are carried out at reservoir temperature conditions. Desorption process is a continuous event and sometimes it takes up to three months (depends on natural permeability in the coal). It starts right after coal sample is sealed off in the canister (at the field) and continues till all gas is released from the coal at the lab). In this method the gas content is determined by collecting and measuring the volume of gas released from a sample of coal taken out from the coal seam by drilling.

CSG Exploration and Production Services
uses specially designed and tested gas canisters for desorption tests (Long canister=1m; short canister 0.5m). Coal Seam Gas Exploration and Production Services prides itself on its ability to provide unique gas measuring and desorption technology in Australia and Asia Pacific Area. We use in-house gas desorption and measuring system developed by our own experts.
